Objective The aversive impact of combat-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) on family members has been examined mainly among veterans' partners as well offspring. Background Only a few studies have secondary PTSD symptoms (PTSS) in parents, and the conditions which distress tolerance (DT) contributes to PTSS parents' (SPTSS) remain unexplored. In present study, we aimed use dyadic approach explore association between DT their that examine moderating role cohesion adaptability these associations. Method A volunteer sample 102 dyads Israeli combat veterans parents responded online validated self-report questionnaires cross-sectional study. Analysis included actor–partner interdependence modeling (APIM) moderation analyses. Results Veterans' was positively correlated with SPTSS. Moreover, two actor effects were revealed wherein contributed own PTSS, negatively predicted SPTSS (partner effect). Importantly, analysis under average high levels parental perception cohesion, higher tied lower veterans. Conclusion Exposure traumatized veteran offspring might entail parents. is associated cohesive augment this association. Implications findings highlight importance acknowledging indirectly exposed Strengthening military families' be important for coping stress.
